Maya: Hitman Schematics

I have chosen to go with the Hitman Schematics that were on Anglia Ruskin Canvas.

The reason I have chosen this weapon because I have a lack of experience in Maya, that I did not want to choose a weapon too complex that I will struggle to complete it. Equally, I did not want to choose a weapon that will be too easy that I won't learn a great deal from. This weapon seemed in the mid-range of the two, and it would also fit in with my Unreal game.

I imported the schematics in via the view drop-down menu.

Using the following settings, I have hidden the grid so it is easier to see and work. Instead, I have enabled the X-Ray, which turns the model transparent and makes it far easier to work to the schematics as you can match up the sizing and details much more accurately.

In the above image is the 3D model (rectangle) in x-ray mode.

By selecting the menu, and then clicking the top line which is dotted, it makes a movable version of the menu. Given my level of experience, this is extremely useful to have on the side of the viewport as I work. As I do not know all the short-cuts or may forget what tools are available to me, this will save me lots of time and also help me to learn the tools.
