Maya: Assault Rifle #1

This was my first attempt at creating the assault rifle. Eventually, I got to a point where I felt like I had created a lot of unnecessary vertices and trying to create the shape I needed was morphing unexpectedly.

After searching various documents, forums, and tutorials I was able to pick up a few tips that made me realize where I was going wrong. I also came across a problem that involved having a black hole, and unable to fill it using the Fill Hole or Bridge even after attempting to search for the solution. With no hope, I decided to restart the assault rifle.

This time around, I feel like I have made more sense of the Insert Edge Loop and understand how to use it better, and where to use it. By using this more appropriately, I have managed to use the Movement, Scale and Extrude tools combined with selecting Faces, Edges and Vertices to achieve a more accurate model of the assault rifle - primarily on the gun handle at this stage.
